Not Quite That - Film Screening with Q&A

  • Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver 950 West 41st Avenue Vancouver, BC, V5Z 2N7 Canada (map)

FREE REGISTRATION: https://notquitethat.eventbrite.ca

You are invited to attend a film screening of Not Quite That, a documentary about local Jewish queer entrepreneur, Sarah White. Followed by a Q&A with Sarah White and the filmmakers. This is a free register-only film screening in partnership with the JCC Adult Program thanks to a New Horizons for Seniors Program grant. All donations at this event will be directed to BRCAinBC.

Documentary description: Might a genetic mutation be the very thing that allows this nice Jewish butch lesbian to be fully seen at last? Meet Sarah, 57. Lesbian? For sure. Jewish? Yes and no. Mother? In all but one sense. Trans? No, just often mistaken as such. Breast cancer survivor? Well, that’s the plan, the survival bit, but without the cancer or the breasts. Not Quite That is an intimate and insightful exploration of how we are seen, how we see ourselves, and why it matters. Learn more and watch the trailer here: https://notquitethat.ca/

The screening will also feature the following two resources in attendance:

  • Dr. Beti Thompson and Jane Remocker from BRCAinBC Society, a group of individuals concerned about the effect of the BRCA genes on the Jewish community in British Columbia and creating initiatives that serve both men and women at risk. Learn more at: https://brcainbc.ca/

  • Dr. Lesa Dawson from Gynecologic Cancer Prevention & Survivorship Clinic to answer questions about genetic cancers and gender affirming healthcare. Learn more at: https://gynecancerinitiative.ca/gynecologic-cancer-researchers/lesa-dawson/

This is a free event and will take place in the Norman Rothstein Theatre.
